The United Kingdom has merged 25 ministerial departments and 376 government agencies and public bodies under one digital platform: Gov.UK. To date, accounts with certified companies have been used to access services with the standardized platforms 3.99 million times. Also, 81.6 % of surveyed participants were satisfied or very satisfied with the ease of verifying identity. This session will discuss:

  • Verifying citizen identities so that one digital ID can access all government services
  • Reviewing the Digital Service Standards: 18 criteria to help public departments create effective digital services to ensure it’s good enough for public use
  • The current services available online, such as Universal Credit, Passports and Judicial Claims, and how they all have standardized platforms

Improving digital identity management requires the streamlining of technology platforms to reduce customer data duplication and improve fraud detection. However, the greatest threat to identity fraud is an internal threat, and so the segregation of duties is usually implemented in order to prevent people from accessing other’s identity. This panel will discuss finding the right balance between the two needs:

  • Creating a cross company strategy on identity to ensure a company-wide model of compliance
  • The value of segregating duties to prevent employees from internally accessing digital identities
  • The future of industry practice: being proactive about streamlined platforms to prevent fraud
